Maurice Mboa is a self-taught Geneva-based artist from Cameroon. He has developed a rich and unique universe infused with his own brand of animism, as well as a very specific technique of engraving painted metal sheets. His signature blend of anthropomorphism and abstraction is instantly recognizable, in particular the streaked faces and “soulprints” of his mysterious figures. He has explored themes of identity, hybridity, and charisma. His work has been presented in Cameroon, Switzerland and various European countries, the Middle East as well as ArtGenève.
