Ricardo Ozier-Lafontaine is a contemporary artist represented by Seimandi & Leprieur, a leading Santa Barbara art gallery specializing in high-quality contemporary art from the Caribbean and France. His powerful black-and-white drawings and paintings bridge abstraction and figuration. His large-format works explore themes of identity, memory, and ancestral presence, making him a singular voice in the global contemporary art scene.
Ricardo Ozier-Lafontaine’s paintings are “a representation from my soul.”
Warm-up + Project:
Looking at Ozier-Lafontaine's work this week, we will challenge ourselves to work in black and white.
Perhaps start with a very open doodle and build from there, or lay down organic shapes and then work back and forth with black and white spaces and markings.
Start with large, simple forms or small repetition of organic lines and movement.
Work into the shapes and spaces, filling in solid spaces and creating patterns if you wish.
This will be a personal journey for everyone. See where the line takes you!
