About the artist
—
Judy Chicago is an American feminist artist, art educator, and writer known for her large collaborative art installation pieces about birth and creation images, which examine the role of women in history and culture. Wikipedia
Judy Chicago created the art installation entitled The Dinner Party in the 1970s. See below.
Warm-up
Please print the PDF of six circles (dinner plates) before class begins.
Choose 6 artists that you would like to have at your dinner party. We will create a corresponding plate in the style of each artist chosen directly on the template. Each plate may be interpreted in any manner you choose.
Think fun, whimsical, and playful for this warm-up.

Project
For the final project, we will choose one artist to create a finished plate. You may use a large plate as a template to trace on your substrate before you begin.
As always, all ideas for the completion of this project are open-ended and all interpretations are encouraged.
