Warm-up + Project

I am excited to present the artist Erin Kaya. I chose her work for the interesting grids she creates, and I saw an opportunity to begin the Fall session with a creative project that supports a meditative experience. We are going to slow down and let the process and selected materials guide us as we build our individual pieces over the next two weeks.

We will begin by creating a horizontal and vertical grid using whatever materials you choose. There are no rules on how to make your grid. Lines and spaces created may be large and small, random or planned; it all works!

Please choose the paper you would like to work with: Bristol board or watercolor stock. This will be your final project. Decide what tool you will use to create your grid. You are welcome to draw in pencil first, then decide whether to use black or white lines to create the grid.

We will draw the grid freehand unless you prefer to use a ruler or straight edge to begin in pencil. We will do the beginning altogether, and I will show you an example I created.
