This is a two-week project.

“Painting geometrical shapes and patterns has a calming effect, letting my mind relax and become quiet. I get rid of all the outside noise and am just in the moment. I always feel that my best paintings are the ones I don't remember painting, I'm someplace else.

Warm-up + Project

I am excited to present the artist Erin Kaya. I chose her work for the interesting grids she creates and I saw an opportunity to begin the Fall session with a creative project that supports a meditative experience. We are going to slow down and let the process and selected materials guide us as we build our individual pieces over the next two weeks.

We will begin by creating a horizontal and vertical grid using whatever materials you choose. There are no rules on how to make your grid. Lines and spaces created may be large and small, random or planned; it all works!

We are creating the framework to allow layers and applications of materials to be applied as the piece unfolds.
